Georgia Winter Itinerary 7 Days: Tbilisi, Mtskheta and Gudauri
Use this Georgia winter itinerary for 7 days as a suggested week: start in Tbilisi, consider Mtskheta, add a conditional Gudauri stay and finish in Tbilisi. Keep a city fallback if the mountain journey is not practical. Compare Tbilisi–Gudauri drivers above; the list is for that single journey, not a seven-day tour.
A Georgia winter trip itinerary with a city fallback
The day numbers below are planning choices. They are not promised journey times, opening hours or guaranteed road access. Keep accommodation flexible and check current conditions before committing to the mountain segment.
Day 1: arrive in Tbilisi and keep the day light
Tbilisi's Abanotubani district has sulfur bathhouses. Private rooms are available at Tbilisi's sulfur baths.
If your arrival allows, consider a short walk and a bath visit. Confirm the room and appointment with the bathhouse. Arrange the airport-to-Tbilisi transfer separately from the onward mountain journey.
Day 2: Tbilisi at your own pace
Set aside time for walks, meals and rest. Choose indoor stops after checking their opening hours, and keep any activity missed on arrival as an option. For a city-focused plan, see Tbilisi in winter.
Day 3: consider a Mtskheta outing, returning to Tbilisi
Mtskheta's UNESCO-listed monuments include Jvari Monastery, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Samtavro Monastery.
Consider Jvari and Svetitskhoveli for your outing, with Samtavro as another option. Confirm access and visiting arrangements before setting out; leave room to change the plan.
Day 4: a conditional transfer to Gudauri
Check current road restrictions and hotel arrangements before departure. If the journey is not practical, keep your Tbilisi base and use the fallback below. Compare the route in the Tbilisi–Gudauri transfer guide before choosing a car.
Day 5: a Gudauri ski day, if operating
Gudauri's usual ski season spans December to April. Gudauri has beginner slopes. Ski and snowboard lessons are available in Gudauri. Children's ski lessons are available in Gudauri.
Confirm operating terrain and a lesson appropriate to your date, experience and preferred language. A typical season is not a confirmed opening date or a promise that every slope will operate.
Day 6: return to Tbilisi and keep the evening free
Avalanche danger can temporarily close the Gudauri–Kobi road section.
Reserve the day for your return, and check your actual route before leaving. Avoid making a Kazbegi extension compulsory. The Gudauri–Kobi restriction risk is general historical evidence, not today’s road status or a statement about every approach to Gudauri.
Day 7: departure around your flight
Consider spending the preceding night in Tbilisi. Arrange your airport journey around the flight and current conditions, with a suitable margin. The return to Tbilisi and the airport transfer are separate journeys.
The city fallback for days 4–6
If the mountain stay cannot go ahead, consider extra time in Tbilisi, a bath visit and a postponed Mtskheta outing, subject to access. Choose venues and check hours for your dates. If skiing is essential, confirm current operation and flexible accommodation before committing to the mountain stay.
For a broader route rather than this winter-week proposal, see the existing general Georgia seven-day itinerary and Georgia winter overview. Those guides also discuss seasonal planning; this page does not replace them.

Georgia winter itinerary: questions before booking
How should I plan a Georgia winter itinerary for 7 days?
Use Tbilisi as the starting and finishing base, consider a Mtskheta outing and reserve a conditional Gudauri stay. The day allocations are suggestions, not a guaranteed timetable.
What if the Gudauri part of my Georgia winter trip itinerary is not practical?
Use the city fallback: keep extra days in Tbilisi, consider a sulfur bath and postpone the Mtskheta outing until access suits your dates. Check accommodation arrangements before changing plans.
Can a beginner include skiing in this winter week?
Gudauri has beginner slopes and ski and snowboard lessons; children’s lessons are also advertised. Confirm operating terrain, the lesson, preferred language and suitability for your dates.
Does the Gudauri ski season guarantee lifts will run on my dates?
No. Its usual season spans December to April, but you should confirm current lift and slope operation before travelling.
Should this week include a compulsory Kazbegi extension?
Keep an extension optional. Avalanche danger can temporarily close the Gudauri–Kobi road section. This general risk is not a report of a current closure.
Does the transfer price cover the entire seven-day itinerary?
No. The driver list above is for one Tbilisi–Gudauri journey. Select the route, date, passengers and car for each separate journey before booking.
Is prepayment required for an OrbiTrip transfer?
No. The price is per vehicle and shown before booking. Pay the driver in cash; cancellation is free.
