Mountain roads in February
If your route continues beyond Gudauri towards Kobi and Kazbegi, winter weather can restrict travel on that corridor. Check the latest official road notice before departure and keep the mountain part of your plan flexible; a restriction beyond Gudauri should not automatically be read as a closure of the approach from Tbilisi. Winter tyres are mandatory on designated Georgian road sections between 1 December and 1 March. More in Kazbegi in winter.
What to do in February away from the slopes
- Sulfur baths in Tbilisi: they operate year-round, including winter, and private sulfur-bath rooms are available in the Abanotubani district — confirm the bathhouse and a suitable time before you go. See our Abanotubani sulfur baths guide.
- Museum of Georgia: the Simon Janashia Museum of Georgia is on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi and has an Archaeological Treasury exhibition; check the current opening hours.
- Prometheus Cave: its published visiting days exclude Mondays — reconfirm the schedule and check weather-related restrictions before you go. See Tskaltubo and Prometheus Cave.
