Expect a slower, winding section on the approach; no seasonal closures in a normal year.
Tbilisi Airport to Sighnaghi is about 99 km and takes close to 2 hours. The road runs east out of the city and into Kakheti, Georgia's main wine region, crossing the Gombori range or following the flatter Sagarejo route depending on conditions. Sighnaghi sits on a hillside above the Alazani valley behind almost intact 18th-century walls, looking across to the Greater Caucasus — on a clear day the wall of peaks is the whole horizon. Coming straight from the airport works well because the town is small enough to settle into on arrival day, and the vineyards start immediately below it.
If you land in the morning you can be having lunch in Sighnaghi with a view over the valley — it is one of the better first days in Georgia. Bodbe Monastery is two kilometres before the town and is worth the short stop; tell the driver when you book rather than deciding en route. The town is built on a slope and the cobbles are uneven, so wheeled luggage is awkward — ask to be dropped as close to your guesthouse as the lanes allow. Autumn, during the rtveli grape harvest, is the busiest time and rooms go early.

Third-party options are listed for orientation only — OrbiTrip books private transfers. A per-car transfer is usually the cheapest door-to-door option for 2+ people with luggage; for a solo traveller on a budget the train or marshrutka may cost less.
Your driver tracks the flight and waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign; waiting is free if the flight is delayed. After booking you receive the driver's phone number — call or message on WhatsApp if you cannot find each other. Pay the driver in cash. Payment is cash only, to the driver; no prepayment.
