Kutaisi to Okatse Canyon Transfer: Private Car with Driver

Short answer (2026/27): Okatse Canyon is about 50 km from Kutaisi, near the village of Zeda Gordi, and a private car with driver is the easiest way to get there and back in a day. The protected section of the canyon is about 2 km long and between 20 and 100 metres deep. A 780 m walkway hangs on the canyon wall and ends at a panoramic viewing platform. From the visitor centre you can walk through the Dadiani forest, past the ruins of the Dadiani palace, or drive closer to the walkway. The driver waits for free while you visit. See live prices for your date on this page; you pay the driver in cash (GEL, USD or EUR) with no prepayment.

Why take a private transfer?

Okatse Canyon is one of the most popular day trips from Kutaisi, but it is not in the city: the visitor centre is near Zeda Gordi, about 50 km away. Public transport means fixed timetables and little flexibility once you are there. With a private car the driver picks you up at your hotel in Kutaisi, takes you straight to the visitor centre, waits for free while you walk the canyon, and brings you back when you are ready.

A car also lets you add nearby sights on the same day, such as Kinchkha Waterfall, without waiting for connections.

The hanging walkway

The main attraction is the walkway. About 780 metres long, it hangs on the canyon wall high above the river, so you walk with the canyon falling away below your feet. The protected section of the canyon is about 2 km long, and its depth varies from 20 to 100 metres, which makes the views from the walkway dramatic.

The walkway ends at a panoramic viewing platform that juts out over the canyon. It is the favourite photo spot, so take your time here.

From the visitor centre to the canyon

The visit starts at the visitor centre near Zeda Gordi. From there you can either walk to the start of the walkway or drive closer to it. The footpath goes through the Dadiani forest, an old park of tall trees, and passes the ruins of the Dadiani palace. It is a pleasant walk if you have time; if you are in a hurry, the drive is short.
